Manchester to Keflavik.
I love flying on a national carrier which evokes the destination so much you feel you have already arrived. Well, Icelandair has this down to a fine art. As soon as we stepped on board, our Icelandic adventure had begun.
The announcements and signs were in Icelandic first, then English, just as it should be. The inflight magazine was full of useful holiday tips such as places to eat, what to visit and interesting cultural stories with an insight into local life. In the magazine, Icelandair stated that they wanted passengers to learn about the country during the flight and I discovered that the music we heard as we boarded was composed and performed by Icelandic artists, there were Icelandic ingredients on the snack menu and lots of short films about Iceland on the in-flight entertainment system. It couldn’t have been a better introduction!
I wasn’t expecting in-flight entertainment on a two and a half hour flight so that was a real bonus. The seats were comfortable and we had plenty of legroom.
We bought a snack and I was pleasantly surprised that soft drinks were free. The flight seemed very quick and had been very informative and enjoyable. We could soon enjoy our first views of the Icelandic landscape before a smooth landing in Keflavik. Top marks to Icelandair!
Takk fyrir Icelandair!
